The Saints on Thursday announced the signing of veteran quarterback Luke McCown and rookie running back Joe Banyard following their three-day minicamp.
McCown, a former Louisiana Tech star, signed a one-year contract, while Banyard, who played collegiately at Texas-El Paso, was given a three-year deal after both attended the minicamp on a tryout basis.
McCown, a 6-foot-4, 217-pounder, is entering his ninth NFL season. He has played in 20 career games with nine starts with Cleveland (2004), Tampa Bay (2005-08) and Jacksonville (2009-11).
He has hit on 184 of 316 career pass attempts for 2,035 yards with nine touchdowns and 14 interceptions.
The 5-11, 213-pound Banyard, was signed by Jacksonville after the draft in April. He rushed for 1,490 yards with 14 touchdowns in two seasons at UTEP after transferring from TCU following his sophomore year.
