The LSU basketball team is down to 10 players — and even thinner on the inside — as 2012 signee Calvin Godfrey will not enroll at LSU this semester, the school announced Monday on the first day of fall classes.
According to a university news release, Godfrey did not meet the necessary academic requirements to enroll.
Godfrey signed with LSU out of Howard College in Texas after beginning his college career at Iowa State, where he was dismissed from the team in 2011 following an arrest for marijuana possession.
At 6-foot-8, 230 pounds, Godfrey would have given the Tigers much-needed help on the inside.
LSU loses 7-footer Justin Hamilton, a second-round NBA draft pick who left school after his junior season. Six-foot-10 sophomore Johnny O’Bryant and 6-9 senior Eddie Ludwig, who played on the wing last year after playing inside as a freshman and sophomore, are the only players on the team with significant post experience.
Below is the LSU roster as of Monday morning. The Tigers may still look to add a player.
The final day for LSU students to begin taking classes for the fall semester is Aug. 29.
