LSU legend Macklin to join Johnny Jones at L’Auberge luncheon

LSU All-American basketball star Rudy Macklin, who played with coach Johnny Jones on the 1981 NCAA Final Four team, will be the guest speaker for the December edition of “Tipoff Luncheon with Johnny Jones at the L’Auberge Resort on Tuesday.

Macklin, the all-time leading rebounder in LSU history, is one of four LSU men’s basketball players to have had their jersey retired.

The L’Auberge Resort is off Nicholson Dr. south of the LSU campus. The luncheon will be held at the Bon Temps Buffet located on the main floor of the L’Auberge. The all-you-can-eat buffet charge is $13.95 per person.

The luncheon buffet is open to the public at 11:30 a.m. and the program will begin at approximately 12:10 p.m.

Macklin will speak about his time with the program, and his work today as head of the Governor’s Council on Physical Fitness and Sports and as one of the organizers of the Governor’s Games, a premiere series of athletic sports events that takes place in the first half of each year.

Coach Jones will also speak about his team as it takes a break for final exams and his team’s upcoming game on Dec. 11 against Chattanooga.

“The Nikki Caldwell Show” debuts Tuesday

“The Nikki Caldwell Show” presented by Capital One Bank, LSU’s weekly women’s basketball radio show, makes its season debut on Tuesday at 7 p.m. from TJ Ribs on Acadian Thruway in Baton Rouge.

The show, featuring LSU head coach Nikki Caldwell, is hosted by Patrick Wright and can be heard on the LSU Sports Radio Network on 107.3 WBRP-FM in Baton Rouge or in the Geaux Zone on www.LSUsports.net/live.

All fans are urged to attend. There will a question and answer segment for the audience with Caldwell. Fans can also call in and ask a question during the hour-long show at (225) 578-4826 in the Baton Rouge area or toll free (800) 315-8255 nationwide. Special guests and LSU players will be making appearances on the show throughout the season.
