Anticipating that more than a few Baton Rouge sports fans have other plans for the night of Jan. 9, the Southern University men’s and women’s basketball teams have moved their Southwestern Athletic Conference doubleheader to the afternoon.
The SU women will host Jackson State at 2 p.m. Jan. 9 inside the F.G. Clark Activity Center. The men will follow at 4 p.m. against JSU.
Later that night, of course, the LSU football team faces Alabama at 7:30 p.m. in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome for the BCS title.
Southern’s basketball teams open Southwestern Athletic Conference play Jan. 3 at Prairie View, followed by road games at Texas Southern on Jan. 5 and the SWAC home openers against Grambling on Jan. 7.
