LSU-State to start shortly before 1 p.m.

HOOVER, Ala. — Top-seeded LSU will begin play in the Southeastern Conference baseball tournament when it plays seventh-seeded Mississippi State at approximately 12:50 p.m. Wednesday.

The game is scheduled to start about 30 minutes after the conclusion of the first game of the day in which Ole Miss eliminted Arlansas 2-0. That game ended at 12:22 p.m.

The regular-season champion Tigers will face one of the top pitchers in college baseball in Bulldogs right-hander Chris Stratton (10-1, 2.16), who struck out 17 in LSU’s 3-2, 10-iining victory against State on March 16 in Alex Box Stadium.

If the Tigers win they will play Kentucky in the second game Thursday, 90 minutes after the conclusion of the 9:30 elimination game. If they lose they will play Ole Miss in the elimination gae at 9:30 p.m.
