Ross back as LSU tries to stay alive

HOOVER, Ala. — Ty Ross is back in the LSU lineup at catcher as the Tigers try to avoid elimination from the Southeastern Conference baseball tournament when they play Ole Miss at 9:30 a.m. Thursday.

It has been just 12 days since Ross underwent an emergency appendectomy. He saw his first action since the surgery when he pinch hit and made the last out in top-seeded LSU’s 3-2 loss to seventh-seeded Mississippi State on Wednesday afternoon.

The loser of the game between the Tigers and the ninth-seeded Rebels will be eliminated and the winner will advnace to play the loser of Thursday’s second game between State and Kentucky at 3 p.m. Friday.
