LSU is ranked No. 9 in Baseball America’s preseason top 25 and No. 12 in Perfect Game’s poll, both released Monday morning.

The Tigers join seven other Southeastern Conference teams in Baseball America’s poll and six in Perfect Game’s rankings: No. 7/7 South Carolina, No. 8/6 Mississippi State, No. 10/11 Vanderbilt, No. 21/21 Alabama, No. 23/15 Florida, No. 24/19 Texas A&M and No. 25 Arkansas. Arkansas is no ranked by Perfect Game.

Aside from South Carolina, LSU plays three-game SEC series with each of those seven ranked teams, hosting Arkansas, Alabama and Mississippi State. Louisiana-Lafayette is No. 14, according to Baseball America. LSU hosts the Ragin Cajuns on Feb. 25.

Virginia is No. 1 in both polls. The SEC has more teams in each poll than any other conference.

Collegiate Baseball released its poll a month ago. LSU is No. 3. The Tigers are picked to finish second in the SEC West, behind Mississippi State, in Perfect Game’s conference predictions.

LSU lost seven of 11 pitchers and four starting position players from a squad last season that went 0-2 in Omaha and finished 57-11. The Tigers return two preseason All-American selections in pitcher Aaron Nola and shortstop Alex Bregman.

LSU begins the season against New Orleans Feb. 14 at Alex Box Stadium. Individual game tickets go on sale Wednesday.
