Pregame: LSU vs. Yale (Game 3)

Pregame will be posted a few hours before each game this baseball season. About an hour before first pitch, lineups will be added to the bottom of this post. Return after the game for our Postgame blog.

General Info

What’s At Stake

  • The Tigers can close out a three-game sweep of Yale, a veteran team that clearly struggles, though. LSU has a shot to shutout Yale in three games, a rare thing certainly.

What To Watch

  • Pressure’s on: Cody Glenn gets his final start before coach Paul Mainieri makes a decision on who will start during conference weekend series. Even Mainieri mentioned that Glenn has a chance to match what Kyle Bouman did Saturday. Bouman, Glenn and Jared Poche are all competing for the final two spots in the weekend rotation behind ace Aaron Nola.
  • The lineup: Mainieri’s lineup is beginning to take shape. The group he started Friday and Saturday looks to be the one he likes for conference series. But will he change it up Sunday? He’s done that the last two Sundays, tossing freshmen in to the starting group.

Know Your Opponent

  • LSU knows Yale pretty well by now and the Tigers have dominated the Bulldogs, especially at the plate. Yale has just 11 hits in two games and zero runs. Yale’s best starter likely pitched Saturday.
