What’s At Stake

  • Huge. It’s the one word to describe this game. Both teams are trying to scrap to remain in contention for an SEC West title and an NCAA regional host bid. The loser of this one is likely out of the mix for both with one regular season series left. Another thing on the line: a possible bye to the second day of the SEC Tournament. The top four seeds in the league bypass the single-elimination day Tuesday. LSU entered the game Sunday sixth overall in the SEC.

What To Watch

  • Home Poche: Because of Friday night’s rainout, coach Paul Mainieri is pushing Poché to the Sunday start. The freshman has been solid at home on the mound. At the Box in SEC starts, Poché has allowed six earned runs in 27.1 innings pitches, has struck out 19 and walked just six.
  • Bregman’s bat: The star shortstop seemed as if he had pulled himself out of a hitting skid, but it looks to have returned. Bregman hit the ball hard Saturday, but Bama was there to catch what appeared to be a few gaping shots. He was 0 for 8 in Saturday’s DH. He’s one for his last 12.

Know Your Opponent

  • This is only Bramblett’s fourth start of the season. He’s struck out 38 in 34 innings pitched. Bramblett is a true freshman making his first start in an SEC game.
