HOOVER, Ala. — The LSU-Alabama game in the Southeastern Conference Baseball Tournament will start sometime after 12:30 p.m. Wednesday because the first game of the day between Ole Miss and Arkansas has gone into extra innings.

The start time for the Tigers and the Crimson Tide was estimated to be 12:30 p.m. but it will be 30 minutes after the conclusion of the Ole Miss-Arkansas game, which started at 9:30 a.m. and entered extra innings with a 1-1 score shortly after noon.

The LSU team bus arrived at Hoover Met Stadium shortly before noon and head coach Paul Mainieri entered the stadium while the players remained on the bus enjoying the air conditioning as the Rebels and Razorbacks continued to battle.

All four of LSU’s senior positions players are in the starting lineup for their final regular-season home game against Ole Miss at noon Saturday in Alex Box Stadium.

Outfielder Raph Rhymes and infielder Mason Katz have been moved up in the order as Rhymes has gone from fifth to leadoff and Katz from fourth to second. Alex Edward has been inserted into the lineup as the designated hitter and will bat cleanup. Casey Yocom will start at shortstop and bat ninth.

Yocom’s insertion means freshman Alex Bregman is not in the starting lineup for the first time this season.

The seniors, including pitchers Kevin Berry, Chris Cotton, Joey Bourgeois and Brent Bonvillain will be honored in a pre-game ceremony.

The Tigers are going for a sweep after winning the series opener 7-1 on Thursday and comoing from behind in the eight inning to win 5-4 on Friday.

Second baseman JaCoby Jones will not be in the LSU starting lineup against Ole Miss on Thursday night because of an undisclosed injury to his left hand.

Mason Katz moved from first base to replace Jones, who will be available only for pinch running during the three-game series. Tyler Moore is starting at first base.

Jones could be back in the lineup when the Tigers begin play in the Southeastern Conference Tournament next Wednesday in Hoover, Ala.
