Rosemary’s Rosemary Pumpkin Soup
Serves 1 to 2, depending on serving size. Recipe is from Helana Brigman. “This recipe comes from a pumpkin-inspired experiment by my friend, Dr. Rosemary Peters. My version follows hers, but I’ve added a few more ingredients.”

1 tsp. finely chopped parsley
1 to 2 tbls. finely chopped fresh rosemary, to taste
2 green onions
1 small baking pumpkin (sugar pumpkin), capped and seeded
Broth (chicken, vegetable, or beef), enough to fill the pumpkin
1/3 cup bread crumbs
2 cloves garlic, minced or pressed
Salt and pepper, to taste
Gruyere or Parmesan cheese, grated, to taste (about 2 ozs.)

PJ’s hosts Movember events

PJ’s Coffee, 5432 Magazine St., New Orleans, will hold a Movember celebration 11 a.m. to PJ's Coffee logo2 p.m. Nov. 3. Movember is an annual, month-long event that encourages men to grow moustaches to raise awareness of prostate cancer and other male cancers.

The PJ’s Movember celevration will feature Mo-Funk along with members of Johnny Sketch & The Dirty Notes, 610 Stompers, DJ Dave Jinx, and appearances by the New Orleans Saints’ Whistle Monster.

PJ’s locations around Louisiana will carry a limited-time Movember coffee blend and collectable cup. A portion of the proceeds will benefit prostate cancer and testicular cancer initiatives.

Learn to make hot coffee cocktails with SoFAB

The Southern Food & Beverage Museum will host a demonstration of how to make hot coffee cocktails at 2 p.m. Saturday as part of their Coffee Month celebrations. The demonstration is free with musuem admission. Learn more about Coffee Month here.

Chef Jay Ducote, of BiteandBooze.com, and Roux Wine & Spirits, 17540 Airline Highway, Prairieville, are hosting a Vending Machine Winery Pop-Up Wine Dinner 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday. Neil and Monica Gernon will bring four wines and Jay’s created courses that include at least one ingredient found in a vending machine, including a … wait for it … Skittles vinaigrette. Tickets are $75.

Cream of Celery Soup
Serves 4 to 5. Recipe is from “Crescent City Cooking” by Susan Spicer with Paula Disbrowe.

 3 tbls. butter
2 medium onions, coarsely chopped
1
 bunch celery, washed and chopped, leaves and tough strings removed 
1 medium potato, peeled and diced (about 1 cup)
2 tbls. flour
Salt and pepper, to taste
4 cups chicken broth
½ cup heavy cream
Snipped fresh chives, for garnish
Susan Spicer’s Classic Croutons, made with multigrain bread, for garnish (recipe follows)
