LSU junior middle linebacker Kevin Minter was named Tuesday as one of five finalists for the Butkus Award, given annually to the nation’s top linebacker.
The finalists are:
- Kevin Minter, LSU
- Jarvis Jones, Georgia
- Dion Jordan, Oregon
- C.J. Mosley, Alabama
- Manti Te’o, Notre Dame
The winner will be announced in December.
A junior from Suwanee, Ga., Minter leads the Tigers with 101 tackles this season and has twice been named Southeastern Conference Defensive Player of the Week. He had 20 tackles, including 17 solos, Oct. 6 at Florida, one off the school record for total tackles and an LSU best for solo stops.
