Since taking the job at Texas-San Antonio, Frank Wilson has hired two LSU assistant strength coaches and a graduate assistant coach.

He’s moved to the players now.

Ronnie Feist, a little-used linebacker and fullback from Edgard, is transferring to UTSA, he announced on his Instagram on Thursday. Feist, a four-year junior, graduated from LSU and can play and enroll at UTSA immediately. He has one year of eligibility remaining.

Feist has played in 15 games in his four years in Baton Rouge. He redshirted as a sophomore in 2013, sitting out that season for unknown reasons. Feist played in six games this past season.

He began 2015 as the immediate backup to middle linebacker Kendell Beckwith, but was moved to fullback during LSU’s bye week before the clash with Alabama. LSU starting fullback John David Moore suffered a season-ending injury during the game against the Crimson Tide.

Feist was a four-star rated prospect out of West St. John in 2012, according to ESPN.com and Scout.com, but he never saw much action. He played sparingly this past season at linebacker and fullback. Feist finished his LSU career with five tackles.

The Tigers are thin at linebacker, but the return of Beckwith is a boon for a squad so used to losing highly touted juniors to the NFL draft. Deion Jones exhausted his eligibility, and the Tigers did not sign a linebacker in the 2015 class. Former five-star linebacker Clifton Garrett transferred over the summer, too.

Duke Riley replaced Feist as the immediate backup to Beckwith when he moved to fullback midway through the season. Riley and junior Donnie Alexander are the only two linebackers who have received significant playing time.

Ex-John Ehret linebacker Michael Divinity and former North Webster RB/LB Devin White have enrolled this month at LSU and will participate in spring practice. The Tigers also have a commitment from Texas linebacker Erick Fowler.

Feist joins receiver John Diarse as scholarship Tigers who have announced post-season transfers. Diarse enrolled at TCU.

Wilson, hired as UTSA’s head coach two weeks ago, hired away offensive line graduate assistant Ryan Pugh and assistant strength/conditioning coaches Ryan Filo and Spencer Ross.
