LSU officially named to list of BCS finalists

It’s hardly on par with Selection Sunday with the NCAA Tournament, but the BCS and its 11 participant conferences – plus Notre Dame, can’t forget the Irish this year – named the 25 teams still in contention for BCS bowl berths Tuesday.

LSU is one of those teams, one of four still with a chance to win the SEC championship (and its automatic BCS bowl berth) along with Alabama, Texas A&M and SEC East champion Georgia.

The Tigers’ BCS bowl hopes hinge on their ability to win Friday at Arkansas (1:30 p.m., CBS) and have current BCS No. 4 Florida lose at Florida State. If the Gators beat the Seminoles, Florida will likely earn at least an at-large berth, likely in the Sugar Bowl.
