Of Tahj Jones, golden lights and muddy parking lots

A a trio of tidbits on today’s LSU-North Texas game as we head to the stadium …

… No news on linebacker Tahj Jones is expected before kickoff, according to LSU SID Michael Bonnette. Jones is on academic appeal, but considering that Michael Ford was cleared to play after his academic appeal it doesn’t appear likely that Jones will suit up Saturday.

… You’ve probably heard about or seen the new purple, gold and white lighting that LSU has installed around the top of the north end zone of Tiger Stadium. LSU senior associate athletic director Herb Vincent said the school is establishing a new tradition in which the lights under the arches around the top of the north grandstands will all be lit up gold after an LSU victory. Vincent said the lights should be visible as far away as the I-10 Mississippi River Bridge. Considering the Tigers are a six-touchdown favorite over the Mean Green, be on the look out for those gold lights after tonight’s game.

… Rain from Hurricane Isaac has left many LSU grass parking lots unusable and is still affecting some traffic lights in Baton Rouge. Visit www.LSUSports.net for information.
