Report: Kiel returns to LSU for official visit

Quarterback Gunner Kiel (6-foot-3, 215 pounds) of Columbus (Ind.) East, attended Friday’s LSU-Arkansas on an unofficial visit with his family.

Tuesday, the nation’s top quarterback prospect and his folks returned to campus for an official visit, according to TigerSportsDigest.com (Scout.com) recruiting writer Shea Dixon.

Kiel, who earlier this season pulled back on his previous commitment to in-state Indiana, will reportedly also make an official visit to Vanderbilt this weekend and Notre Dame next weekend.

Kiel is expected quickly wrap up the recruiting process and enroll in January at whichever school he chooses.

The nation’s top-rated quarterback prospect according to Scout.com and ESPN.com, Kiel is also rated the top pro-style quarterback by Rivals.com. Kiel is ranked No. 17 on the Scout.com 300, No. 18 on the Rivals 100 and No. 20 on the ESPNU 250.

LSU currently has 20 commitments for its 2012 recruiting class, but none from any quarterback prospects.
