“Top Ten in Ten” is a 10-part blog series on the top 10 players, by importance, for LSU’s 2014 season. We’ll have a player each weekday, counting down to the No. 1 player on Aug. 4, when LSU begins fall camp.
- No. 7: Travin Dural
- Year, position: Sophomore, receiver
- Height, weight: 6-2, 182
Dural is LSU’s leading returner at the receiver position. That’s not saying a lot. He had seven catches for 145 yards and caught two touchdowns in 2013 as a redshirt freshman. One of those scores, though, was a big one. He caught a 49-yard pass from Anthony Jennings in the final minute against Arkansas to win the game for the Tigers, avoiding what would have been a huge upset at home.
Dural led all receivers during the spring game. In fact, he was the only receiver to catch a pass through the first three quarters of the game. That tells you something about LSU’s depth at the position. The Tigers need Dural. That said, LSU received an infusion of freshman receivers this summer. Rookies Malachi Dupre, Trey Quinn and D.J. Chark will challenge for playing time. Dural, as only a sophomore, is the unquestioned leader of the group.
